It's a resounding YES for 6 new regions

New Regions 751 people voted NO in the referendum A total of 322,048 people in some parts of the Western Region cast their ballot on Thursday, 27 December 2018 in favour of the creation of the Western North Region. According to the Electoral Commission, 751 people voted NO in the referendum. Similarly, the people in the Savannah enclave of the Northern Region voted YES for the creation of the new Savannah Region. A total of 206,350 people voted YES in the referendum, representing 99.7 percent of valid votes cast while 647 people voted NO, representing 0.3 percent out of the total 207,343 votes cast. A total of 346 votes were rejected. Still, within the Northern Region, a total of 205,121 voted YES in favour of the creation of the new North East Region, representing 99.8 percent of the total valid votes cast while 447 voted NO. Out of the total 205,804 votes cast, 236 were rejected and 205,568 were deemed valid. Also, residents in parts of the Brong Ahafo Region voted in favour of the creation of the Bono East and Ahafo regions. A total of 450,812 votes were cast in the Bono East enclave, representing 85.82 percent of the 525,275 registered voters who turned out for the exercise. While 448,545 people, representing 99.5 percent of the total ballots cast voted YES, 1,384 people, representing 0.3 percent voted NO. A total of 883 votes representing 0.2 percent were rejected. Also, out of a total of 307,108 eligible voters within the Ahafo enclave, 277,663, representing 90.4 percent turned out to participate in the referendum. There were a total of 276,763 YES votes, representing 99.67 percent of the total votes cast, while 675 representing 0.24 percent voted NO. A total of 225, representing 0.08 percent votes, were rejected. For the controversial Oti enclave in the Volta Region, 323,708 people voted out of a total 366,545 eligible voters. 319,296 people, representing 99 percent voted YES for the creation of the Oti Region while 2,878 voted NO, representing one percent. A total of 1,534 votes were rejected. Per the 1992 Constitution, at least 50 percent of the people living within the enclave of the new region must turn out to vote in the referendum, and out of that, at least 80 percent must have voted YES for the region to come to fruition.

UPPER MANYA KROBO RURAL BANK SUPPORTS HEALTH DIRECTORATE

The Upper Manya Krobo Rural Bank Limited with its headquarters at Asesewa in the Eastern Region has donated a quantity of personal protective equpiment (PPE) to the Upper Manya Krobo District Health Directorate to aid health workers in their COVID-19 fight. The items were 30 packets of examination gloves, 10 packets of face masks and 240 pieces of hand sanitisers. Presenting the items, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Rev. Devine Nartey, said the bank deemed it neccessary to support the government in her efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. He said the pandemic had brought in its wake, the institutional and individual challenges which were never expected. Prophet predicts doom for pastors in 2019
