Afenyo Markin 'bares teeth' at new UEW VC, vows to fight victimization

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Efutu Constituency in the Central region, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin has served notice to the current Vice Chancellor of the University for Education Winneba (UEW), Reverend Father Professor A. Afful-Broni that he will fight any form of victimization and injustice being perpetrated in the school under his watch.

He cautioned the Vice Chancellor against engaging in acts that may undermine the reputation of the institution reiterating his resolve to fight wrong decisions until the right thing is done.

The lawmaker who has been concerned about developments at UEW called on , Reverend Father Professor A. Afful-Broni to be mindful of events that led to the sack of professor Mawutor Avoke as Vice Chancellor of the University and not chart the same path.

On a local radio station, the lawmaker indicated that Prof Afful Broni is harassing one Dr Jinapor and refusing to forward his association Professor recommendation to council for approval which he described as distasteful.

“The VC is also shielding the Registrar Osei barima from investigation. It is alleged that Osei Barima has questionable birth certificate and O level. The VC is refusing to nominate candidates for Pro VC elections simply because Prof Asiedu Addo is likely to win”, he revealed.
Meanwhile, some staff of the university have petitioned the council to tell the university community and the general public about the truth of the matter in respect of the Registrar.

In a nine-point statement copied to MyNewsGh.com they demanded “There should be an investigation to the background of the registrar (all his academic background, change of name, change of date of birth and others)

The council should find out if the registrar has reached the mandatory retirement age

The council investigates the circumstance that led to the registrar’s transfer from UEW main campus to Mampong campus and his subsequent leaving UEW to join KNUST before his appointment

The council investigates the processes that led to his appointment to establish if some people were aware of his allege forging of documents
The council establishes if there are peculiar elements or ingredients which can prove criminal liability against him.

The council explains why they have not spoken or taking an action against the registrar

The council publishes in details all his academic qualifications and birth certificate.

The registrar should be made to step aside for full scale investigation into the matter.
