The School of Graduate Studies of the University of Cape Coast invites applications from qualified persons for admission to pursue Education and Business Programmes by Distance Learning in the College of Distance Education for the 2019/2020 Academic Year.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

The following graduate programmes are being offered by distance learning:

Master of Education (M.Ed)

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

Master of Education (M.Ed.)

The M.Ed programme is for a duration of three (3) semesters and is by course work only. The Information Technology programme however could be pursued with a dissertation for a duration of four (4) semesters.

Master of Arts (MA)

The MA is for a duration of three (3) semesters and is by course work only.

Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) – Top Up

The M.Phil. (Top Up) is for a duration of three (3) semesters comprising one semester of course work and two semesters for thesis writing.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA programme is for a duration of four (4) semesters of course work and dissertation writing.

Postgraduate Diploma in Education – (PGDE)

The PGDE is for a duration of three (3) semesters and is by course work, Long Essay and Supervised Teaching Practice

Application forms/ scratch cards can be obtained from the following locations:

Regional Study Centres: Accra Study Centre (Zenith University College), Papafio Learning Centre (Papafio Hills, Accra), Ashanti Regional Study Centre (Tafo Nhyiaeso, Kumasi), Central Regional Study Centre (CoDE-UCC), Western Regional Study Centre (Ntankoful, Takoradi), Upper East Regional Study Centre (Bolgatanga), Northern Regional Study Centre (Vittin Target Road, Tamale), Volta Regional Study Centre (Little Bethlehem, Ho), Upper West Regional Study Centre (Kabaye, Wa), Eastern Regional Study Centre (Akwadum Junction off Oyoko Road, Koforidua), Brong Ahafo Regional Study Centre (Sunyani).
Bank Drafts can be obtained from any GCB Branch nationwide, issued In the name of College of Distance Education, University of Cape Coast. All the Bank Drafts must be submitted to the Offices at the sales point for the scratch card.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants seeking admission into any of the programmes must have a first degree from a recognized university or equivalent institution in the intended field of specialization with a minimum of 2ndClass Honours – Lower Division.
PLEASE NOTE: A selection interview would be conducted for applicants with Third Class or Pass.
In the case of the MBA and MSc programmes, holders of final professional examinations certificate and membership of relevant professional bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Institute  of Banking (CIB); Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD); Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG); Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM); The Chartered Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators (CIPMA); Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII); Chartered Institute of Human Resource and Development (CIHRD); Certified Public Accountants (CPA); Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) can apply.
Candidates applying for the MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management programmes should have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Material management. In addition, candidates applying for the MSc programmes must have, at least, three (3) years post qualification work experience.
Applicants for the M.Ed Programmes who do not have a first degree in Education must have, at least, a Diploma in Education in addition to a first degree in the intended field of specialization. Students who successfully complete the M.Ed programmes may progress to do the M.Phil after graduation.
Candidates applying for M.Phil programmes must have a Second degree (Master of Arts or Master of Education) from a recognized University or analogous institution in the intended field of specialization.
Candidates for the PGDE programme must have a minimum of first degree in the relevant area and currently teaching. The candidate must submit an official transcript of academic record and satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College for Teacher Professional Development, such as a selection interview.
Candidates for the M.Ed Information Technology (both with Dissertation and Course Work only) must have a Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed) in any field OR B.A/B,Sc/B.Com etc with a Diploma in Education/Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Certificate in Education.
In addition to the above requirements, all candidates must have computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

The graduate programmes will be mounted in six (6) of our Regional Learning Centre namely:
  1. Accra (Accra Learning Centre, Adjiringano) – Business and Education
  2. Kumasi (Ghana Institute of Languages – M.Ed/MA) and (Kumasi Technical Institute – MBA)
  3. Cape Coast (College of Distance Education Building, UCC) – Business and Education
  4. Tamale (Institute of Languages and BATCO) - Business and Education
  5. Sekondi – Takoradi (Holy Child College of Education) – Business only
  6. Sunyani (Standards Institute of Business and Computing – SIBCO) - Business only
  7. PGDE (All Regional Centres)
  8. M.Ed Information Technology – UCC, Cape Coast only

COST OF SCRATCH CARD

The cost of application scratch card for each of the listed programmes of study is Three Hundred and Twenty Ghana Cedis only (GHS 320.00)

SPECIAL ORIENTATION

All successful applicants will be invited to a special orientation to be held at their study centres in the various regions. Applicants will be briefed on the mode of delivery of the programme and other requirements for completion of the programme within the stipulated period.

CLOSING DATE

Closing date for sale of Scratch Cards (i.e Application Forms) is 16th June, 2019 and deadline for the submission of forms to the Deputy Registrar, School of Graduate Studies, University of Cape Coast is 23rdJune, 2019.
